ProclamationCity of Springfield, IllinoisWHEREAS, Robbie's Restaurant in downtown Springfield is housed in a building that began life in 1855 as a dry-goods store owned by Mary Todd Lincoln's brother-in-law; and WHEREAS, Lori and Arch Bailey arrived on the Springfield scene and assumed the management of this well-known eatery more than 15 years ago; and WHEREAS, they quickly adorned the brick walls with photos, and ornate wooden antique architectural pieces such as mantels and a wine rack which add a great punch of interest; and WHEREAS, the food is out of this world, and it's almost sinful not to order pie for lunch, especially one of Arch's 13 specialty pies; and WHEREAS, Lori and Arch quickly endeared themselves to local jazz aficionados by introducing the very popular jazz event called Uptown Friday Nights; and WHEREAS, Lori and Arch have continued the tradition by providing this outstanding downtown venue to many musical groups, who have provided more than 600 live musical events for jazz lovers in Central Illinois; and WHEREAS, Lori and Arch have continued their commitment to provide food and fun at #4 Old Capitol Plaza, a service that deserves appropriate recognition by such organizations as the Springfield Jazz Society, NOW THEREFORE, I, Timothy Davlin, Mayor of the City of Springfield, Illinois, do hereby proclaim Sunday, April 30, 2006 to be LORI AND ARCH BAILEY DAYin the City of Springfield, in recognition of their commitment to downtown Springfield by providing an entertainment outlet for live jazz events for more than a dozen years, and providing exquisite food for those partaking in Uptown Friday Nights.
